Hey Everyone! We are in need of a few items for the summer reading program and could really use your help. We need jars. Any kind will do (plastic or glass) as long as they are cleaned out. Examples: peanut butter jars, jelly jars, mayo jars, salsa jars, ect. We also need plastic bottle caps. They can be from milk jugs, pop bottles, ect. All items can be dropped off at the library anytime before June 1st. Thank-you.
We’ve had old rocks sitting out front of the building since the City removed the bushes that had originally been there. Now we finally have something a little more attractive to look at.
At least i hope it is in the long run.
Here are some pictures. I’m going to try and put up new pictures once a week to document the progress.

Since this Christmas I’ve had a lot of people asking me if the Webermeier had Overdrive or something like it so that people could borrow books for their Kindle/Nook/Whathaveyou.
The short answer is “no”.
The longer answer is “Not yet, but with your help we can get it sooner rather than later.”
Here is the full deal with Over Drive. The shorter breakdown goes like this.
- It costs $500.00 for the initial set-up.
- It costs $500.00 for the participation fee per yer. (With a year beginning in October)
- They do the set up in October, January, April and July.
- It takes about two months after the set up to actually get access to anything from them.
- They Do Not prorate the participation fee.
So based on that I’m having a hard time spending a thousand dollars for what would amount to four months access only to have to turn around and spend another five-hundred in October.
That said: If we can raise at least five-hundred dollars before the set up in April (so all of a month. I know. Short notice.) then we will get started then. If we can not raise the money through donations keyed toward this end then we will wait until October and should have access at the beginning of 2013.

For the past 4 years the library has, as part of Summer Reading Program, had people (mostly kids) paint wooden blocks to be displayed at the library.
All in all I think it’s gone pretty well.
The colors match the colors on the spines of the books in the areas they are mounted and hopefully help people to know where to look for kids books.
The issue has been the color yellow. Yellow doesn’t mix well with black. It ends up an ugly green color. You can mix it with purple and get a more attractive shade of brown but it’s tricky. So yellow has been my bane but at last a solution has been found.
Decoupage!
So now all we need is the material for them to adhere. So if you have a scrap bin of old cloth or paper and are willing to part with some of your primarily yellow scraps then it would help the library greatly. I’m really looking forward to this project and know that with your help it will be great!

The Webermeier will be closed today as a result of snow. Stay home. Stay warm. Enjoy the blizzard as best you can.
Sorry for the inconvenience but snow happens. (As usual no fines will be assessed when we are closed.)

As a reminder: If the Public Schools close as a result of weather then the Library will be closed as well.
